This is just to help differentiate which page is which php file.
Today, I finally setup the wiki and this blog in preparation of my work session with Dana. My hope is that this site will become the foundation of our communications infrastructure. From here we, we will generate and disseminate ideas regarding the Generative Society and a practical transformation to it from our current state.
My biggest accomplishment for the day, however, is designing the logo for the website. LOL Photoshop rules! Anyway, I think I like the logo because it reminds me of a tree, and the G and the F, although looking separate above the surface, are really part of the same structure. This, of course, is the core philosophy behind this site. The angled bracket, >, which is meant to emphasize the concept of focus, also happens to form the tip of an arrow. The arrow connotes that we have direction, and it is telling us to go forward.
The funny thing, and I imagine it is this way with a lot of art, is that this design was not planned out from the beginning. These interpretations came after the form had been organically created. The angled bracket, for example, came from my original concept to use a diagram of an optical lens focusing light. After choosing the font and combining the G and F, however, I found that I had to simplify the concept to angled bracket. When I placed it by the GF, I saw that it formed an arrow, and that seemed to fit with the overall form. Also, the GF monogram coming out of the block containing “GenerativeFocus” was a pure accident. Initially, GenerativeFocus was in regular text form with no background, but when I highlighted it to play with the font, Photoshop inverted the background and font colors. That text and the monogram happened to be close together, and… Voilá! There you have it.
Well, enough ranting about a logo. I hope you find something inspiring and helpful from this website or blog.
